Traveas all over the place

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

Dear Traveas friend,

Just before the summer I was on stage at Kapitalmarknadsdagen 2009, hosted by RTS (The Swedish Travel and Tourist Industry Federation).

rts-logoOut of a total of approx 100 applying companies we were first chosen to be one of the 18 finalists to come up on stage. Then, 50 leading investors casted their votes for the hottest company to invest in, and Traveas came out as the second hottest company, beaten only by Boda Borg with just an inch. We are damn proud of course! At the same time we want to send a big congrats to David at BodaBorg and his team, you´ve really made some fantastic achievements the past year.

See my elevator pitch at Kapitalmarknadsdagen 2009:

Just a couple of days later I was up on stage again, this time as a panelist at IMC (Internet Marketing Conference) at Nalen in Stockholm. The topic for the day for us to discuss around was  – Are there any recession proof online strategies?

imc-logo-190pxThe panel was led by Mikael Zackrisson, well known Editor in chief for Veckans Affärer.se, one of the leading business magazines in Sweden. On the panel was also Mr Rufus Lidman and fellow entrepreneur Anders Kyhlstedt from Booli to mention a few.

Thanks IMC for inviting me, it was a fun panel to be on, and I think we had some good dynamic in our discussions, both agrees and disagrees.

To my surprise I noticed that I was quoted on Twitter by the audience, which of course is extra fun. I said “ Being in a startup is pretty much like being in a recession for years, 24/7” and Kim Lehult was quick to quote me :-)

Advantages of going public

Monday, June 8th, 2009

We´ve had some extremely intense, but also very exciting last couple of weeks, so in a couple of blog posts I will try to recap what we´ve gone through.

First out: Traveas goes public!

As a result of an extraordinary demand for our service on the international market, we decided to increase the growth of the company even more a couple of months ago. That is of course great fun indeed, but also a challenge. Growth costs money and to finance such growth we needed to raise more money.

We have reviewed many different ways of financing growth earlier, everything from business angels to VC Players and all in between. But one strategy that we reviewed for the first time was to go public. We haven’t really thought that much on such a strategy earlier, but once we started to look into it we realized that there are many advantages to us besides the possibility to raise money.

Firstly, we can now attract many more potential investors. Hundreds of persons instead of just a couple of them or maybe one major player.

Secondly and probably the most important one, we now becomes a fully transparent company with open information about us in loads of different objective and third party places. One of the key places for such information is of course AktieTorget, the leading marketplace for smallcaps in Sweden. For us as a smaller player on the international market such a marketplace of course is a very important variable when talking to major and world wide represented agencies and networks. They can now get a good and objective picture about us as a company and our financial situation.

Our stock will be listed at AktieTorget from the 26th of June 2009. For more information about the round of financing we just closed, check out our Investor relations page.

Cheers!
